Riboflavin, also known as vitamin B2 is an easily absorbed colored micronutrient with a

 key role in maintaining health in humans and animals. It is the central component of the 

cofactors FAD and FMN, and is therefore required by all flavoproteins. As such, vitamin 

B2 is required for a wide variety of cellular processes. It plays a key role in energy metabolism, 

and for the metabolism of fats, ketone bodies, carbohydrates, and proteins.

Vitamin B2, as one of the thirteen necessary vitamins for human body and a member of vitamin 

B group, is slightly soluble in water.Uses of Vitamin B2: Being used as nutritional supplement, 

it is widely used in wheat flour, dairy products and sauce. It also can be used in rice, bread, biscuits, 

chocolate, catchup and so on. Sometimes it is also used as pigment. As a food additive, Vitamin B2 

is an essential food ingredient in our food supply
